Delete cygwin of CCS ?

Hi,

When I install CCS, "Cygwin" is installed as a utility of CCS at the same time, but please tell me whether you do not have any problem even if you delete it.

"pwd.exe" of the following installation directories becomes the ban on use software by the security of the company of our customer.
[installation directory]
C: \ti\ccsv5\utils\cygwin

C: \ti\ccsv6\utils\cygwin

Our customer should delete it, but please tell me which following methods are right.

①Only an execute file of "pwd.exe" deletes
②The whole of the "cygwin" directory deletes
③Because CCS uses the command, it must not delete

Because it is command file of cygwin, I think that I do not have any problem in particular.

  • Shigehiro,

Deleting the Cygwin utilities installed with CCS is not supported and can lead to unpredictable issues. In other words, your customer may run into problems if any file on this directory or the entire directory is erased.

Therefore the only option we officially support is number 3 above: CCS uses the utility, therefore it should not be deleted.

At his own risk, your customer is free to delete the file that triggers the security problem and check if CCS works normally for his development environment. Another alternative is that, if your customer has a separate install of Cygwin that has this utility and is fully approved by their IT security department, they can try to put the Cygwin's bin directory in the system path. Again none of these alternatives is supported by us.

  • Hi Rafael,

    Thank you for quick reply.

Because a problem might happen in CCS when I deleted it, an answer understood that it was 3.

I have a customer confirm whether he deletes it with the risk of the customer, and CCS does not have any problem.
