Where is the "target"-button in CCS v5.5?

Hello Ki,

it is me again. Thank you so much for helping me last time. But i got new troubles.

I am now doing the "getting started"-routune of CCS v5.

Currently i got to do this:

Click on Target --> Run. The graph should update in batches of 16 samples.

but my problem is, WHERE is that "Target"-button?
Can you help me please?

Hey,

You can find it, if you scroll down: "Advanced Data Visualization Tools"> "Displaying graphs"> and then you can see it at the 5th point

I think that text is old and refers to CCSv4. In CCSv5, it should be "Run -> Resume" that you need.

CCS does admittedly have a steep learning curve, especially if you are not familiar with Eclipse.

I suggest you browse through some of the beginner workshops for CCS that are available. Even if you don't have the exact target used in the workshop, you can pick you a lot by simply browsing through the material:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CCS_Fundamentals_Workshop

Hey,
for example if i do the C2000 workshop for CCS v5.5.
The device in this workshop is the Piccolo F28069, which i do not own. I own the Tms320-f28016, which is also from the C2000 family.
Can i do the workshop with all the steps for the Piccolo, but connect the Tms320-f28016 instead. does this works?

I'm not sure if there equivalent examples for F2801x. If so, you may be able to apply them to your device. If not, it is best to simply read through the slides as they are still useful to just read.

And one more thing, I do recommend moving to CCSv6 eventually since CCSv5 is being deprecated in support.

I got one more understanding issue :

In the datasheet it says:

"The 
TMS320F2809,TMS320F2808,TMS320F2806,TMS320F2802,TMS320F2801,TMS320F28015 
,TMS320F28016,TMS320C2802,and  TMS320C2801 devices,members of the 
TMS320C28x™ DSP generation,are highly integrated, high-performance 
solutions for demanding control applications."

Then on wikipedia it says: 

"C2000 microcontroller family consists of 32-bit microcontrollers with performance integrated peripherals 
designed for real-time control applications. C2000 consists of 5 sub-families:
 the newer C28x + ARM Cortex M3 series, C28x Delfino floating-point series, C28x Piccolo series, C28x fixed-point series, and C240x...."


Does this mean, that the TMS320F28016 is part of the TMS320C28x - family and the TMS320C28x is part of the C2000-family?

That means the TMS320F28016 is aslo a part of the C2000 family?

Yes, the F28016 is a F28x based device and part of the C2000 family.
