CCS Monitor

We used CCS about 5 years ago and there was a tool to monitor its JTAG communication with DSP. For example, what it did in loading program or run. We can't remember the name and don't see it either under CCS directory. This would be a quick and proven way to know how to start a program or reset a DSP. The EVM648 included gel file helps somewhat but the gut of build in gel function, gel_reset for example , is not exposed.

Is there such a CCS monitor tool? If not, how can I get the codes of gel build in functions?

I can't seem to recall such a tool. Was it a little standalone exe that you ran? Did it generate text logs or output to a console?

Thanks for moving the post. I think TI e2e doesn't work well with Firefox. Anyway, I believe it is a stand alone exe and it generated text log. If no such tool, can I get the codes for gel build in functions like gel_reset.

Ki-Soo,

I found the Ghost of CCS monitor in the Help tab. Please see picture below. CCS Monitor option is grayed out. This is what I am looking for. How can I activate it?

Dan,

I doubt this is what you are looking for. The "CCS Monitor" is simply a little exe that allows you to quickly kill all running CCS processes. It also shows status of CCS (starting up, shutting down, hung, OK). See slide 57 of http://processors.wiki.ti.com/images/d/d3/CCStudio_Tips_and_Tricks.pdf for more details.

It's grayed out because it is already running. If you stop the monitor, then that option will be available so you can start it up again.

In any case, it does not do any sort of JTAG communication monitoring. As I mentioned, it does not sound like the monitor you were referring to in your original post.
