CCSv6 Register Expressions Disappear

When I run the debugger and look in the expressions window the watched registers that I placed there seem to disappear. The rows are still there but they are blank. This has been happening the past few days and I'm not sure if it's related just to my code or something with CCS.

  • Hi George,
That's an odd one. What exact version of CCS are you using (please provide the full build number)?. If you close the Expressions view and re-open it, does that resolve the issue?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I have encountered the same situation in Linux recently. I guess it is a bug of recent CCS release. But in Mac CCS beta version, there is not such issue.
  • Hi Ki,

The build is 6.1.2.00015 running on a Win7 Ultimate 32-bit. I just had this happen again and I closed and opened the expressions window but the registers are still "missing".

  • Hi Ki,

Just have the same problem with CCS V7 Version: 7.2.0.00013 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.6. It's really annoying. Then CCS becomes unresponsive and I have to force to quit the application. It looks like a memory leak at some point. I'm currently working with the MSP430 device. So far as I know, this register expression disappearance seems not happening when I use the Tiva C TM4C1294XL, but I have a some point to kill CCS as it became also unresponsive after a while. It may be linked to the same problem.

    Best Regards,

    Patrick

  • Hello Ki,

I have encountered the same issue several times. The only workaround I could find was deleting the workspace and starting with a clean slate, which is not ideal. Especially since the problem re-occurs quickly.

The issue seems to occur (more often) when a lot of Expressions are used (many separate expressions or expanding a large structure) and when Graph views are used.

There is an Eclipse bug I think is related to this issue: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=289517

(This bug focuses on the Variables view, but seems to be the same bug for different views)

Can you help me figure out what is going wrong?

    Best regards,

    Rob
