CCS Cloud not seeing the board I have connected?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200, ENERGIA, MSP430F5529

Just trying to upload blink on CCS and I get this.

I clicked target and set up the com port which connected my CC3200 and this happened. What step am I missing?

  • Hi,

Assuming you have installed the browser add-on and the TI Cloud Agent without failures, perhaps the issue is located in the hardware itself.

I got a connection error if my CC3200 Launchpad was set to SWD (rightmost jumper inserted on the SDP jumpers), but not on 4W JTAG or Flash. Perhaps you could check this and see you get a successful connection?

Also, make sure the jumpers J8~J11 are populated.

I don't think there is a problem in the USB connection itself, since I got a "Frequency is out of range" error when I unplugged my CC3200 Launchpad.

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael
  • Where do I get the browser add on the and TI cloud agent? I know for a fact that my hardware is working and I have the jumper configuration set up to program it from Energia, is it a different jumper set up to program it from the CCS cloud?
  • Jenny,

It looks like you have browser add on and TI Cloud Agent installed correctly. I would check the following

    1) Is the device plugged-in

    2) Try plugging the device in and out

    3) Did the kernel drivers get installed correctly?

       - I will get back to you on a procedure for how to do this.

  • Hi,

When you try to launch the debugger it asks you to install the browser extension and an updated cloud agent. Something similar to what is shown below:

You need to click first on Step 1 and follow the instructions of your browser to install the add on. Then click on Step 2 to download the TI Cloud agent: double-click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Lastly, click on the Refresh button so CCS Cloud can capture all the changes.

The browser agent would be shown in your browser's Add ons (or extensions) feature and is named TICloudAgent Bridge

The TI Cloud Agent Application is installed under the directory below.

    C:\Users\user\TICloudAgent

I am unsure what may be happening in this case, but perhaps you could try to delete the directory above and remove the browser extension to force a reinstall.

Also, I just spotted another detail: the Energia webpage mentions the need to connect a jumper wire from SOP2 to J8, but in CCS and CCS Cloud the configuration that works for me is shown below:

Perhaps that last topic is the root of this issue.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • What are the kernel drivers?
  • It looks like I have both of the aforementioned things installed.
    I changed the jumper configuration.
It may also be relevant to mention that the Energia IDE no longer works on my Mac (Running OSX Yosemite 10.10.3)
The board is definitely not broken.

Finally, now when I try to upload blink I get:

  • HI,

Well, the error message now indicates a "Launchpad w/ msp430f5529" device instead of the "Launchpad w/ cc3200" shown in the previous message. Given that cloud will only debug/run the current project, can you make sure the correct one is highlighted?

    Regards,
    Rafael
  • It randomly just worked when I tried it now, meaning that it uploaded successfully. I'm not sure the program is actually running though. where is the serial monitor?
