C2000 6.4.x vs 15.x.x

There seems to be no actual document for the 15.12.1 C2000 compiler - spru514j  ist the latest document, but only describing 15.12.0.

Will there be a newer document released? Do you have a timeline?

The only difference between version 15.12.1.LTS and 15.12.0.LTS is bug fixes.  Therefore, there will be no update to the documents.

I am actually a bit disappointed with the response TI gave.  The document is just a compiler user manual.  But why did they decide to upgrade to 15 from 6.4?  Usually there is some document describing the differences - maybe we are tighening loops, adding an option to compile in some format other than coff, adding these C99 features, whatever. 

I can't really go over two documents page by page and discern what the differences are, especially since I sure many do not involve command line switches and therefore it is difficult to evaluate which version to use. 

I have noticed the 15 project files are not backward compatible.  Wonder what is different in there as well ...

Please see the readme.txt that comes with the compiler.  It located in the base directory of the compiler installation.  Here is a typical location.

C:\ti\ccsv6\tools\compiler\ti-cgt-c2000_15.12.0.LTS

In the C2000 compiler roadmap, the 15.12.x compilers are not mentioned, only the 6.4 compilers.

But it shows only the roadmap until 15H2....

Are the 15.12 compilers the "C2000 CGT next" compilers?

What compiler line will have new features and not only bug fixes - 6.4 or 15.12 or something else?

Version numbers look like X.Y.Z or X.Y.Z.suffix. When either X or Y changes, there are most likely new features.

There will be further patch releases under 6.4.Z, but there will be no further minor branches 6.Y.Z where Y > 4, thus there will be no more features added for 6.Y.Z
