CCSv6.1 Free License vs Paid License

Why must i buy the license for CCS. Im working on a project using the RM57uC and everything in CCS seems to work fine. There no license issues. For what reasons must i buy the license for CCS?

Will anyone use CCS for non-TI device? The answer should be NO.
Then, why do we need to buy license for CCS in order to develop applications using TI device?

Is CCS 6.x a very well-designed IDE? The answer is still NO. It is based on open-source Eclipse and some people even think it is worse than CCS 3.x.

In my viewpoint, TI should not set any limitation if CCS is used for TI device. The purpose of engineers to use CCS is also helping TI sell devices.

Hi Akshay,

Until you use XDS100v2 debugger or any launchpad you can use CCS for free. Else you'll have to buy CCS license.
