To update, or not to update? That is the question....

When I startup CCSv4.1.1.00014 it displays a message that says software updates are available.  I download the softward and attempt to install it, at which point it displays the following message:

Duplicate Conflicts
If you continue with the update/install, the resulting configuration will contain duplication conflicts that may cause parts of the product to be unusable. Do you want to continue?

 Detected conflicts:
Version 3.16.1.27 in /C:/Program Files/Texas Instruments/xdctools_3_16_01_27/eclipse/
Version 3.16.2.32 in /C:/Program Files/Texas Instruments/xdctools_3_16_02_32/eclipse/

So because of its stern warnings, I cancel out of the update.

Question:  What is this weird behavior?  What should I do about the update?  So far, whenever I startup the program, it keeps telling me an update is available and asking me if I want to install it -- at which point I cancel the update.

  • Walter,

You can safely ignore that error, it has no impact on CCS.  It happens when there is more than one version of the XDC tools installed side by side.  The team is trying to figure out how to avoid that warning in the future.
