My Kaspersky Internet Security finds trojan after CCS 6.1.300033 download

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

I turned off my Kaspersky Internet Security and my Windows Firewall, then downloaded and installed CCS 6.1.3.00033. When I turned my internet security and Firewall back on I received this message: "Detected PDM: Trojan Win32 Generic. Location: f:\ti\ccsv6\eclipse\ccstudio.exe. Disinfect and restart computer." Also got a window whose Title Bar said "Rundll: rundll32.exe bad image" and the body of the window said: "C:Windows\system32\MSCTF.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."

I have Windows XP 32 bits

I had uninstalled a previous version of CCS which worked great with the MSP430 LaunchPad forever. I'm upgrading so I can play around with the MSP432 LaunchPad and have all the example programs available in MSPWARE in the CCS.

  • Moving to the CCS forum.

  • OK, Here's what happens, at least with Kaspersky anti-virus: After installation, the first time you run CCS, additional components are downloaded from the internet. Kaspersky anti-virus must be turned off the first time you use CCS because the ant-virus recognizes these downloaded components and then finds ccstudio.exe and deletes it because it thinks it's a Trojan. The operator has no choice in the matter, ccstudio.exe gets deleted.

So just shut off Kaspersky during installation and the first time you use CCS. After that you can run CCS with your anti-virus on.

  • Joseph,

Thanks for posting this. I had installed Kaspersky and ran the full scan on a machine with an existing CCSv6.1.3 installation and it did not find any issues. What you are saying makes sense that it doesn't like the fact that we download and run exes as part of the installation. Another option is that we have an offline or full installer where you download a big zip that includes all the content that normally gets downloaded during the installation. The full packages are available here: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Download_CCS

Making our installer play nice with various different security software packages is something that we need to improve.
