Can not get CCS Cloud com port working

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650

I have spent several HOURS trying unsuccessfully to build the ProjectZero demo app on the CC2650-LAUNCHPAD. It wasnt readily clear, but I assume that one must either install CCS or the CCS Cloud programs.  I installed the CCS CLoud files on my Win10 system but still get the following:

Cortex_M3_0Memory Map Initialization Complete.

Cortex_M3_0Failed Board Reset: (Error -260 @ 0x0) An attempt to connect to the XDS110 failed. The cause may be one or more of: no XDS110 is connected, invalid firmware update, invalid XDS110 serial number, or faulty USB cable. The firmware and serial number may be updated using the xdsdfu utility found in the .../ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110 directory of your installation. View the ReadMe.txt file there for instructions. (Emulation package 6.0.222.0)

          <snip>

The xdsdfu program referred to was NOT on my system, but I found it on the TI website and have installed it

When I first run the update, I get the following error:

D:\DATA\Projects\Active\TI_PROJECTS\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110>xdsdfu -m

USB Device Firmware Upgrade Utility

The requested device was not found on the bus.

If I then unplug and replug the CC2650 Launchpad board, then it is initially found, but fails on the second command.

The Comm Port Does show up in my Windows port list.  Ein10 DOES see the comm port.

I think this is a secondary problem, but its got me stuck.

  • Resolved ...

    • uninstalled the CCS cloud agents
    • uninstalled the emulator tools
    • downloaded and installed the full CCS program
    • reinstalled the emulator tools

Still got same error message when attempting to build the program

    • moved the CC2650-LAUNHPAD USB dev ice from behind a USB hub to a main USB port
    • ran xdsdfu -m
    • ran xdsdfu -n xxxxx -r   (where xxxxx was the serial number shown me on the -m command)
    • ran xdsdfu -m
    • ran xdsdfu -f firmware.bin -r

The CCS now sees the XDS110 on the CC2650-LAUNCHPAD and builds

I am not quite sure which of the final actions corrected the problem, but it is resolved

  • Sorry to hear of your initial pains but glad to hear it is working now and thanks for the update!
