MSP430-FET with Spy Bi 2 Wire

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5342, MSP-FET

Hi,

I have MSP-FET which according to the debugger guide supports Spy Bi-Wire for MSP430F5342. I am unable however to get it to work, each time I get a communication error even though the wiring is identical to below. Surprisingly, when using the programming dongle for chronos it works without problems. Not sure what is wrong or causing that error. Thanks.

By default the MSP-FET attempts to automatically select either Spy Bi-Wire or JTAG mode.

There have been some other hardware configurations where the automatic MSP-FET SBW / JTAG mode selection failed to allow communication with the device. The thread Forcing SBW mode describes a change to a CCS XML file to allow SBW mode to be forced when using the MSP-FET. Maybe forcing the MS-FET to use SBW mode will help in your case.
