TMS320DM6437 EVM problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM6437

Hi,

my configuration is the following:

Signum JTAGJet-DaVinci

TMS320DM6437 EVM board

CCS  4.1.2.00027

When I create a new Target Configuration for Signum JTAGJet, there is no DM6437 EVM in the list of available boards. By CCS3 it worked fine.

How should I setup it manually?

Thanks,

Csaba

  • Did you install the latest v4 drivers from Signum? You should have options from for 6437 (device and EVM)

  • Csaba,

You can create your own target configuration by looking at the page below:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Target_Configuration_-_Custom_Configurations

Usually who defines the supported targets per emulator is the JTAG manufacturer (which is the most knowledgeable about their product), therefore I would try to contact Signum's support line and check if they have a fix or an updated device driver.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Hello Ki-Soo,

This is my problem. I installed the newest Signum drivers, but all the 6437 devices are missing from the list in this dialog window.

  • If you select a different emulator like the TI XDS560 do you see the 6437 devices?

Do any C6x devices appear in the list for Signum? Any devices at all?

  • Ki-Soo, John:

For Signum there are other C64* devices (for example: DSK6416, EVM6413, and many more), but no *6437* in the list.

For a different emulator (TI XDS560) the situation is the  same: a lot of devices, but not a 6437.

However, I found the evmdm6437.gel in the installation directory of CSS4, so I was able to connect the device by custom configuration. (IcePick_C router (port: 0x10), C64XP CPU, and the initialization script "..\..\emulation\boards\evmdm6437\gel\evmdm6437.gel").

Now, it seems to be working...

    Many thanks.

  • Good that you have it working.  The drawback of creating a configuration that was is that you won't have any of the peripheral registers in your register view.

The fact that you don't see DM6437 in the device drop down makes me suspect that the xml files are missing from your install.  I am running the same 4.1.2.00027 build and I see them.  There should be a DM6437.xml in \ccsv4\comon\targetdb\devices  Is the file there for you?

In the \ccsv4\common\targetdb\boards directory there should be an evmdm6437.xml file.  That file will only get installed if you installed the Spectrum Digital content during the CCS install as it is an SD board.

  • Hi John,

The files you mentioned are missing.

However, the lack of the register view is acceptable for me at the moment.

  • Something must have gone wrong with the install.  Maybe wait until the 4.1.3 service release is out and download and install the full image for that.  When installing make sure to install the Spectrum Digital software as the DM6437 EVM file would be included in that package as it is an SD board.
