CCSv4 linker parameter change causes recompile of all project files

CGT v6.1.14

C6472 project

When I change a link parameter (e.g.: right click on project -> Build Properties -> C6000 Linker -> File Search Path -> add dir to library search path), the whole project gets re-compiled. Is there a reason why the recompile is needed?

Or maybe this is only happening to me.

I would expect a full rebuild anytime the build options are modified. This may seem a fairly miniscule change, but potentially you could be pointing the compiler to a different folder with a different version of header files - the compiler has no way of knowing.

Unless someone else knows otherwise I would treat this is as expected behavior.

Technically changing a linker option shouldn't mean recompiling the files but just relinking the app. However I don't think the build system distinguishes compile option and link option changes. I will check if it is possible and if so file a defect.

It would really speed up development time if linker option changes didn't cause a source file re-compile.

Good catch, John. I somehow read changes to the compiler options rather than linker.
