Number of instructions the MCU has done?/Release version?

Hi everyone,

I feel a little stupid for asking these question but it seems I can't find some things in CCS as I am using it the first time.

Is there a way to see how many instructions has the processor processed during debugging?

Second question, is more stupid. How to I put my release version on the MCU? In CCS I only have debug option. I built the release version, but i don't know to how run in on the MCU. I want to see how fast it is.

Hi,

You can always enable the profile clock in CCS:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Profile_clock_in_CCS

In certain releases of CCS this function is not working for certain Cortex cores. In this case, you can also access the event counter directly from the Breakpoints view. Check section 6.1 of the page below:

As for your second question. Did you switch the build configuration to Release as mentioned in the section below?
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Projects_and_Build_Handbook_for_CCS

If so, simply clicking on the green bug button will load the Active build configuration to the target. Check the reference below:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Debug_Handbook_for_CCS

I'll verify the answer because you helped me a lot. Could you just explain one more thing.
As far as I know, in release build the compiler excludes all info needed for debugging which makes the code generally faster and smaller.
That's why i don't understand, if I select active build release, and click the green bug, why can I debug my code?
