Older GUI Composer Installs or XDS100 and Windows 10

I have a customer who is having issues using GUI Composer Application

with Windows 10.  It appears the COM port doesn't even show up so perhaps this is an XDS100 compatibility issue?

    Chris,

    I am looking at this one. I have a DRV8312 with a 2803x controlCARD. That should be enough to reproduce as the important part is the XDS100. Unfortunately my Win10 laptop is on a different network and it is taking forever to download the Motor kit software.

    Does the customer happen to have CCS installed? That should give them the latest FTDI drivers. How old is the software?

    I expect to have some more info in an hour or so once the download is complete.

    I have installed the app. When I plug in the F2803x controlCARD the COM port shows up in device manager. When I run the app it is not able to connect to the target. I then swapped in a F28069 controlSTICK and that connected fine.

    I uninstalled and deleted the driver from windows. I then plugged in the hardware and forced it to use the driver from GUI composer and I get the COM port in device manager and the App can connect.

    They could try installing newer drivers from FTDI to see if that helps. But I don't think it will.

    Options:
    1) install CCS
    2) install emupack
    3) install drivers directly from FTDI: www.ftdichip.com/.../CDM21218_Setup.zip

    For me when the driver is not present I see a "USB Serial Port" listed under "Other devices". If they do see it under other devices they can right click on it and select "Update Driver Software" and select to browse for the driver and pick the driver that is in the GUI Composer directory under /ccs_base/emulation/windows/xds100_drivers

    If it is not showing up under other devices either then I suspect some sort of hw issue. I would different USB ports, ensure plugged directly into the PC and not a hub, try a different usb cable...
