CCS roadmap for Win 32bit

Genius 12760 points

My customer is a well established C2000 and Sitara user and has a lot of mature JTAG emulators.
For their next 3year window tool investment he needs to know how long we will support CCS for Win-32bit as XDS510USB Plus is no longer supported by 32bit systems

From http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:Code_Composer_Studio_v6:

DEPRECATION NOTICES:
• The 32-bit version of Code Composer Studio for Linux is discontinued in favor of a 64-bit version with the introduction of Code Composer Studio v6.2.0. Please plan the migration accordingly.
• Windows XP support will also be deprecated with the release of CCSv7.0.0 in 4Q16. Please plan the migration accordingly.
• Spectrum Digital XDS510USB JTAG debuggers are not supported in any 64-bit version of CCS

What are our plans of supporting CCS for Win 32bit? Is there any timeline for obsolescence?

Regards,
Bernd

  • Bernd,

We will move to 64bit only on Windows in the future. However the timeframe for that has not yet been set. We have a CCSv7 release planned for the end of the year and it still includes 32bit Windows support. It is possible that we will deprecate 32bit towards the end of 2017.

In the case of the XDS510USB I believe you are referring to the Spectrum Digital product. Our partners will need to determine which OS configurations they support with their products and how long they support them in the market. My understanding is that this product is still supported on 32bit systems but not 64bit. I can follow up with Spectrum to confirm.

    John
  • Hi John

Spectrum Digital confirmed : XDS510USB JTAG debuggers are not supported in any 64-bit version of CCS.
