CCS loads CPU 45%

Hello

My CCS loads CPU 45% while designing application. There are many actions in Progress tab ("Refreshing paths and symbols", "Linking viewer selection..."), they appear and disappear very fast so I can hardly read what they mean. In Project explorer the selection jumps between several projects. Restarting CCS IDE does not help. Any ideas how to fix it ?

My system: Windows 10 (64bit, version 1607), CCS Version: 6.1.3.00034

  • Hello Mikhail,
See slides 5 (last bullet) and 36 of the below presentation:
    software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/training/CCSv6-TipsAndTricks.pptx

Those are two common culprits for CCS taxing your PC. Closing any unused project can help since CCS will not index any closed projects. Disabling the indexer altogether can help.

Is the load always high or is it just the occasional spike?

Also, what are the specs of your PC? (CPU, RAM)

    Thanks
    ki
  • I reduced workspace to 2 projects and disabled the indexer. Still a lot of action (CPU load 15%). The most irritating is the activity in Project Explorer. The high load is always. I can manually stop processing in Progress tab by fast clicking "Cancel operation", but it begins again if I save changes in my source file.

I use many Eclipse based IDEs, like CooCox or CrossCore Embedded Studio. They are doing well when many projects are opened.

    My specs: CPU = Intel Core I7-4710HQ @ 2.5 GHz; RAM = 24 GB
