CCS4 Project Clean/Rebuild Errors

After I make a change to the source code I am debugging, I try to recompile using either Rebuild or Clean and then Build. I get the following error:

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Any ideas? I have to restart CCS 4 in order to rebuild my project and debug it.

What type of file does it give the error for? Is it the .out file, a particular source file?

Do you have an BIOS windows open like ROV or execution graph? Normally rebuilding the .out while a debug session is running is fine. I am guessing that one of the views has locked the file. If you terminate the debug session (red square) can you rebuild normally?

I do have the ROV open. If i close this I still am not able to rebuild. Also if I terminate the debug session the file still seems to be locked. The only way I can get it to rebuild is to exit and restart CCS 4.

Which version # of CCSv4 do you have? I know I have seen this error before in the past but I have not had any luck reproducing on 4.1.2 or 4.1.3 (beta). When I saw it before it was related to ROV.

Damn. I was hoping you were on an older version. I still think the problem is that something ROV related is in memory and is locking that file.

One thing to try is to modify your desktop shortcut to have -clean in it. This will clear out some cache files and temp data loaded by the workspace. If you still see the problem I would try creating a new workspace and importing your old project(s) into it (you can leave them in their original locations if you want).
