Computer freezing when running xds100serial (Ubuntu 16.04

To be clear I have seen and looked into this post.

I first tried to make a new target configuration. Following the instructions, I setup everything and click Test Connection and the computer halts and locks up completely.

The output only shows the following.

-----[Print the reset-command software log-file]-----------------------------

This utility has selected a 100- or 510-class product.
This utility will load the adapter 'libjioserdesusb.so'.

same happens when I run xds100serial.

listing the ttys I see that /dev/ttyUSB1 is missing.

  • Hi,

Please apologize for the delay. Are you still having this issue?

I can't reproduce this in my Ubuntu 16.04, but I am using CCSv6.2.0.00050 and the latest revision of the TI Emulators component (6.0.407.6). Perhaps this makes a difference.

One detail that was experienced by users in the past are either multiple cards plugged to the same host (the JTAG drivers can get confused as to which ports are connected) and, in more rare cases, non-programmed FTDI devices.

The number of ttyUSB ports in the thread you linked is dependent on the driver version and the development kit used. The same F28335 I used in the old thread now instantiates a single /dev/ttyUSB0, as well as a F28377D controlCARD I have here. I can't precisely tell when this change was made, though.

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael
  • Thanks, I fixed the issue by uninstalling CCS 6.1 and installing CCS 6.2 with new TI Emulators. Now the XDS100 is working fine.
