New ccs user - debug hangs on refreshing workspace

I recently installed CCs 4.1.2.00027 so I can play with the launchpad tool. During my first project which is one small c file, I tried to debug it and a new window opens to display progress. One on the items in this window shows 'Refreshing Workspace". This hangs forever andI need task manager to kill CCS. Do I need to reinstall CCS?

Sorry, I just meant the MSP430 LaunchPad micro controller.

I got it to work today. I disconnected the MSP430, removed the c file from the project and built the project. The build failed but didn't hang. I then connected the MSP 430 and added the file back to the project and I can now build the project and download it to the MSP 430 without hanging.
