CCS: TI-RTOS in App Center - CCSv7

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Colleagues,

This is a statement found on TI_RTOS download page, on link http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/tirtos/index.html :

The APP Center on a freshly installed CCSv7 in Win7 64bits does not show TI-RTOS... Is that a bug or did I miss something during the installation process?

Regards

Bruno

  • Hello Bruno,
You can now obtain TI-RTOS from Resource Explorer instead of App Center
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CCSv7_Changes

The text in the TI-RTOS download page will need to be updated. I'll let the owners know of this.

    Thanks

  • Hello Ki,
    Thanks.
Still one further notice: the most recent version available directly on the link I posted is 2.16.01.14, while the version that the resource center downloaded to my PC is older than that (Content has been successfully downloaded into c:\ti\tirex-content\tirtos_tivac_2_16_00_08)

  • It is not uncommon for the version on resource explorer to lag a bit from the latest version you can download directly from the download site. This applies to all software content, not just TI-RTOS. If you need to use a later version than what is available on resource explorer, you can download it directly from the site as you did.

  • Ki,
    That's alright, no problem.
Sorry if this sounds "lazy", but I don't recall how I add the SYS/BIOS templates into the select box inside "New CCS Project" window...
If I recall from the previous installation, was it automagically added when I used the app center?
The option is not there now that I simply used the resource explorer to download it...

  • Assuming that TI-RTOS is properly "discovered" and enabled with CCS, if you create a new project supported by the TI-RTOS installation, it should appear automatically. Note that we are encouraging people to move away from templates and use examples that come packaged with the embedded software (TI-RTOS, TivaWare, etc) instead. You can browse and import them from Resource Explorer.

    Thanks

I guess it was not properly discovered/enabled, as it did not show up. Which further step would be necessary to have TI-RTOS properly discovered or enabled within CCS?

Sure, I successfully used that route instead. Still curious about the question above, however.

    Cheers

See my post on having CCS rediscover and install software packages:

  • Thank you for the link, Ki.

When I tried as per those instructions to rediscover via Window/Preferences, CCS/Products, TI-RTOS was already on the list.

However, trying again to create a RTOS project from scratch, the "empty" and "empty min" now show as options when using new/CCSproject.

I am guessing these two options appeared when I created projects via View/ResourceExplorer yesterday, as I am positive they were not available before.

From my end, this phase is "cleared" - but I wanted to add this info in case someone needs to track the "conflicting" install sequence.
