CCS: Side effects of installing CCS with Anti-Virus turned on?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

Installed CCS with anti-virus on at my company issued laptop, because it is against company policy to disable anti-virus. What could be the side-effects of installing CCS with anti-virus on?

I am using CCS with CC2650 Launchpad and in several occasions, I am not able to output at Tera Term during CCS debug. Could this be one of the side-effects?

  • hi kel,
Some antivirus software will interfere with the CCS installation, and cause it to fail. Because we have not tested with every antivirus configuration, we provide a blanket warning recommending disabling it during the installation. I believe we have had issues with Kaspersky, but Symantec and Windows Defender is not an issue. Usually though, when the installation completes, then your should not run into any future problems.

I've never heard of antivirus causing an issue with serial output to terterm

  • With my experience I do confirm troubles with Kaspersky, but no issues at all with MS Security Essentials.

  • I had to install CCS several times now with antivirus enabled (Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10, also company policy forbidding disabling antivir).
It took a long time, but succeeded.
But we also have issues during runtime - CCS really takes a long time (3..5 min) to start with Kaspersky antivirus enabled on every first start of a day. This is the same for all other Java applications (standard eclipse, some other applications) - at least with our companies Kaspersky settings.
Only adding an exclusion for the program and program path to the kaspersky profile by our IT helped.

    Regards,
    Stephan
