CCS4 Downloads and Updates

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

How can I download the updates and save them for installation on multiple instances of CCS4 without having to have each user download their own copy?

The update manager dose not tell me there is a new version of DSP/BIOS available.  How do I find the latest version of DSP/BIOS?

Running CCS v4.1.3.00034, when I run the Update Manager and search for new features with the "Ignore features not applicable to this environment" checked I get:

  • A Service Release for the Blackhawk CCSv4 Emulator, but it is for version 4.0.1.2, and requires version 4.0.1.1 which is not listed.
  • A CCS Service Release for CCS 4.0.4.01000 and CCS 4.0.5.01000.  Aren't these for an older version of CCS?  If so, why are they still being displayed?

Thanks,

  Peter Steinberg

  • I get the same error message

"A Service Release for the Blackhawk CCSv4 Emulator, but it is for version 4.0.1.2, and requires version 4.0.1.1 which is not listed."

when using the update manager in ccs 4.1.3.00038. This has the consequence that I cannot upgrade my code generation tools to the latest version since there is an error with som blackhawk emulator, thus preventing me from continuing in the update manager. Is there any workaround for this error?

    Thanks

    Markus

Sorry, this is currently not supported

I'm not sure if BIOS updates are being picked up by the v4 update manager. If not, you can get BIOS 5 directly from:

    http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_registered_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/bios/index.html

I'm not sure where BIOS 6 is, but if you need it let me know and I'll look for it.

    I'll need to investigate this

    Peter,

This is an idiosyncrasy of the Eclipse update manager. When you select the "search for new features" option, it will retrieve all available versions of applicable features even if the dependencies are not satisfied. If you try to install something for which the dependency does not exist, it won't let you.

The 4.0.4.01000 and 4.0.5.01000 updates have not been on the update site for some time now, but you might have seen these appear in the list prior to them being superseded and removed.

I'm not familiar with the Black Hawk release versions, but from the numbering these seem like they would have been applicable to earlier CCSv4.0.x releases so you should not need them when using CCS v4.1.3.

    Markus,

You should be able to uncheck the BH updates so update manager will not attempt to install them.

This does not work. If I deselect all, no error message is shown (figure 1) but as soon as i select anything (e.g. cgt 6.1.17) the error message appears (figure 2)

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? At the moment I cannot update my CCS or code generation tools or anything at all...

  • Hi Markus.

Have you tried the manual way to update your tools? You can download the latest version of CCS from here http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS and the latest Code Generation Tools from here https://www-a.ti.com/downloads/sds_support/TICodegenerationTools/download.htm .

Maybe this links can be helpful in the meantime.

  • I found a solution to the problem where I couldn't use the update manager.

In CCS4, choose Help -> Software Updates -> Manage configuration

Here, the "Blackhawk CCSv4 Emulation 4.0.1.2" is marked with a red cross since something is wrong with it (don't know what and don't care). Right click and uninstall. Ignore the warnings about that this could have unpredictable results.

After that it is possible to use the update manager again.

Why isn't the old non-working version of Blackhawk emulation drivers removed when I actually have a newer version (4.1.3.1) installed? And why should that cause problem with the update manager?

    Regards

    Markus

  • Markus,

The Eclipse update manager goes off and validates feature dependencies for all the features that are installed.  There must be something wrong with the file that describes the dependencies in that version of the Blackhawk "feature".

The actual driver files would get updated when you install a newer version but the "feature" in eclipse sticks around.  Eclipse does this because with true Eclipse features that are just Java you can rollback to an earlier version.  I suppose Blackhawk could have the driver installer look for old features and remove them.

  • Hi.

I installed CCS for EVM6274 on Win7 64-bit. Unfortunately, the features.xml in ...\Texas Instruments\ccsv4\eclipse\features\com.ti.ccstudio.product_4.1.2.00027 is missing. Due to that file missing it is not possible to check for update.

Any suggestion how to correct this problem?

    Best wishes,
    Sava

  • Sava,

    Here is the file.

    2477.feature.zip

    Regards,

    John

  • John,

Thank you! Can you please send me also: \Texas Instruments\ipc_1_00_05_60\eclipse\features\com.ti.ipc_1.0.5.60\feature.xml?

    Best wishes,
    Sava

  • As well as:

    \Texas Instruments\xdais_6_25_01_08\eclipse\features\com.xdais_6_25_01_08\feature.xml?

    I hope that is everything.

    Best wishes,
    Sava

  • Thank you John, now it works!

    Best wishes,
