CCS/TMS320F28075: Unable to erase/program flash on TMS320F28075

Hi,

I am developing a product using the TMS320F28075 chip. I want to program the flash on a brand new chip with empty flash but run into issues.

What I did was:

1. Launch a debug session by launching the target configuration file (see attached .ccxml file)

2. Press connect

3. Open the on-chip flash view/tool

4. Press the 'erase' button

5. Observe error 'see attached image'

Used tool: Code Composer Studio Version: 7.0.0.00043

Target configuration file: /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/81/5100.xds560v2.zip

Emulator: Spectrum Digital XDS560V2 STM USB Eumulator

Error message: See attached image

I also tried the CCS UniFlash Version: 3.4.1.00012 but this resulted in the exact same error message.

Some helpful pointers would truly be appreciated!

Not sure if this will help, but the most recent version of the emulator 6.0.504.4.

Are you using a spectrum digital debug probe? CCSv7.0.0.00043 fixes issues associated with that debug probe.

Unfortunately updating to 6.0.504.4 did not fix the problem. I still get:

C28xx_CPU1: Erasing Flash memory...
C28xx_CPU1: Trouble Removing Breakpoint with the Action "Remain Halted" at 0xc12b: (Error -1066 @ 0xC12B) Unable to set/clear requested breakpoint. Verify that the breakpoint address is in valid memory. (Emulation package 6.0.504.4)
C28xx_CPU1: Error writing the PLL values. (Flash algorithm returned error code). Operation cancelled.
C28xx_CPU1: Flash Programmer: Error initializing device. Please check if the device is locked.

And I am already using CCS 7.0.0.00043

Goto Run->Debug Configuration->Target and uncheck Enable CIO function use. Also, is Disable all breakpoints when loading a different program checked?

I'm wondering if the device is locked. Are you able to try a different board?

I unchecked the Enable CIO funtion and the Disable all breakpoints when loading a different program was already checked.
Sadly, it still didn't work.

I already tried a different board but get the same result.
I don't think the device is locked because when I click the 'unlock' button in the 'On-Chip-Flash' menu I get:

C28xx_CPU1: Performing Security Operation...
C28xx_CPU1: Calculated Link Pointer Offset: 0x20
C28xx_CPU1: Unlocking device...
C28xx_CPU1: Lock status: 0
C28xx_CPU1: Operation completed successfully.
C28xx_CPU1: Performing Security Operation...
C28xx_CPU1: Calculated Link Pointer Offset: 0x20
C28xx_CPU1: Unlocking device...
C28xx_CPU1: Lock status: 0
C28xx_CPU1: Operation completed successfully.

Which seems to indicate the device is unlocked.

Try a very simple application that only has main. Ceate a new project that only has main.c.

Oh, I'm sorry I forgot to mention that I already was using the device successfully with a 'led blink' program that loads to RAM. (It blinked)

It was only when I was trying to program it into flash that these flash acces errors appeared.

Ron,

I suspect there might be some hardware related issue going on here. Could you please take a look at these related threads and see if the suggestions there help?

If they do not, I would suggest starting a new post in the C2000 device forum for the experts there to chime in. I could move this thread over to their forum but I hesitate to do that as it may get overlooked due to the fact that it already contains replies.

Why not just click Run->Debug in CCS?
