CCS/TMS320F28235: Linking time increases (Compiler “TI V6.4.6” to “TI V15.12.3.LTS”)

Dear TI E2E Community,

we updated our CCS from CSS V6.1.2.00015 to CSS V6.2.0.00050 yesterday.
So we also updated our Compiler from TI V6.4.6 to TI V15.12.3.LTS.


The build works fine but our linking time increases dramatically.

With Compiler version TI V6.4.6 we had a linking time of seconds and now with Compiler version TI V15.12.3.LTS we have a linking time of five minutes and more.

We also tested this with CSS V7.

 

Could anyone help us?

    Hi Steven,
    Note that you can still use compiler version 6.4.6 with CCSv6.2.0 and CCSv7
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Updating_CCSv6

    As for why the discrepancy for the linking time between the two versions of the linker, I'll move this thread to the compiler forum where the experts there can help you best.

    Unfortunately, I don't know what causes this slow down in the linker.  We need a test case that allows us to reproduce this problem.  In this case, the best thing is for you to send in your CCS project.  Please see this post for the details.
