Newly installed Code generation tool does not show up in CCS3.3 Component manager.

I have installed the code generation tool 7.0.3  but it does not show up in the component manager.

I'm using CCS3.3, version 3.3.38.2, and am running the CCS on Dell D830 with WIndows-XP, SP2.

I also installed the code generation tool 6.1.16, too but it does not show up in the component manager either.

During the installation, there was no error at all. Also I did it with admin privilege.

Any help?

  • Did you download these code generation tools from the CCS 3.3 Update advisor site? The installer should create an entry in the component manager, so something may have gone wrong with the installation. You may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling the code gen tools again.

You could also try manually re-registering the build tool interface as suggested in this post: http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/p/56899/202195.aspx#202195

  • I have downloaded the package from CCS update advisor.

I have done unstallation and reinstallation of cgt several times but nothing changed. They never show up CCS's component manager.

I reboot the systems, no help.

Also I tried to run the exe file "SetupInCCSnRegistry.exe" only to see the following error message:

BTW, there was nothing wrong during the installation.

Please help, I'm stuck in this issue.

    C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\C6000 Code Generation Tools 7.0.3>setupinccsnregistry.exe 7.0.3

  • Aarti,

I did as you advised: run "regsvr32 <path_to_cgt_install>\bin\bti6000.dll" to register the dll. However, the component manager recognizes it as a blank one. I tried to select that "blank version cgt" to run CCS3.3.

CCS3.3 complains of missing hearder files, mostly they are std libraries. It is not working at all.

This is exactly same phenomenon that the person mentioned in the post that you advised me. So obviously this is not the solution.

    Any ideas?

  • On Windows XP, all that should be required is administrator privileges to install properly, so I'm not sure what else to check. I have installed both of those versions and don't see a problem.

Could you try running compiler.reg manually as suggested in this post? http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/p/43277/152154.aspx#152154

  • All installations were done with admin privileges.

I tried to manually register the keys by running "compiler.reg".

After that the new cgt tools showed up at the component manager.

However, CCS does NOT work properly. It doesn't look like recognizing the cgt tools such that CCS had compile errors like this (those files are my source codes):

Error, Don't know how to build file "C:\work\sun_wg_dsp\lnk.cmd"
Error, Don't know how to build file "C:\work\sun_wg_dsp\main.c"
Error, Don't know how to build file "C:\work\sun_wg_dsp\rcv_functions.c"
    Build Complete,
      4 Errors, 0 Warnings, 0 Remarks.

I had tested this issue with 3 different XP machines (all same XP professional w/ SP2, two Laptops and one desktop).

On Desktop machine, the installation was ok and CCS is running  with new cgt with no problem.

However, I can see the exact same problems on those two Laptop machines. The cgt installation does not work. Even manual registry key setup does not work either.

There are other postings regarding similar issues in E2E. I think the cgt installer has some problem. According to other person's posting, the cgt installer does not work on some computers.

Please advise further how to resolve this issue.

  • I described the same problem here:
    http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/p/43277/150973.aspx#150973

Still there is no real solution to that. Problem: *.reg file does not create all the keys that the installer does.

  • Also,

"RemoveRegistryKeys.exe" does not remove the registry keys that were manaully installed as you advised.

"uninstall_cgt_c6000.exe" does not remove the registry of cgt tools. So the "removed-cgt" still shows up in the component manager.

When I ran the "RemoveRegistryKeys.exe", I got the following messages, it looks like something not running correctly (pl script).

    ===================

Preparing to remove registry entries for the compiler installed
    in C:/Program Files/Texas Instruments/C6000 Code Generation Tools 7.0.3
Removing extra information from the registry
Can't spawn "cmd.exe": No such file or directory at RemoveRegistryKeys.pl line 48.

Process completed, you can now delete this directory to complete the
    uninstall process.

    press enter to exit
    ==================

  • I'm not sure why it cannot remove the registries. You can try to remove them manually (via regedit). Open the compiler.reg file in a text editor to see what the registry entries are.

  • CCS 3.3, Win7 x64, exactly same trouble: all sources from Source folder in Project view moved to Documents folder and seems that no compiler recognized at all. My solution is to install CGT in $(Install_dir)\C6000\cgt6.1.9.
