CCS/TMDSIDK437X: CC7 does not recognize embedded XDS100v2 emulator

Part Number: TMDSIDK437X

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

To whom it may concern

Hi,

I have recently purchased one set of TMDSIDK437X (AM437x Industrial Development Kit). I have some questions and your answers will significantly help me to learn how to work with this development kit and TI AM437x processor.

The operating system of my laptop is windows 8.1 64-bit version and I installed Code Composer Studio V7. It is stated that TMDSIDK437X supports embedded XDS100V2 USB emulation through the MicroUSB AB connector (J18). So, I supposed that there is no need for an external emulator. I connected the J18 to the Laptop USB port, but unfortunately, CCS could not setup the connection with TMDSIDK437X.

Please kindly help me on the following questions:

1- Are there any limits for using 64-bit windows platform?

2- Is the CCS V7 compatible with Win8.1 or Win10?

3- Is it necessary to install any specific extra drivers or compilers to get connected to TMDSIDK437X? (For example, some applications need to install standard Microsoft Visual C++ compilers (SDK 7.1))

4- Could I use other ARM development tools in order to program TMDSIDK437X? (Such as Keil, DS-5 or IAR Embedded Workbench)

Your prompt response will be highly appreciated.

Sincerely

V. Asadzadeh

The CCS installer comes with the necessary drivers and compiler. the XDS100 drivers are usually installed by default

I'm not sure. This last question is best asked by the experts in the Sitara forum (the original forum you posted in)
