CCS: CCS as a standalone C editor/compiler?

Hi,

Is there a way to use CCS (I'm using 6.2) to write C code that's not related to a microcontroller and have it run?

This would be just to practice my C fundamentals.

Hi,
Sure you can use CCS to write C code and build it. But you will not be able to run it without any HW target.

If you use the older CCSv5.5, it does come with some simulator targets that you can run your code on.

What platform are you on?

If a Mac you can get XCode which will let you create bare-bones console apps. And Clang has better error messages than the Ti compiler. (Sorry, guys!) 8^)

There is nothing to do with Windows 10 for the purpose of practice C/C++ programming. CCS is based on Eclipse, you can download "Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developer" directly from eclipse .org.
