CCS: Downloading and licensing CCS

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am really confused. I'm looking at the Download CCS page on the TI Wiki:

processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Download_CCS

It says:

Free license for older versions
With the release of CCSv7 all previous v4, v5 and v6 releases are free of charge.

This implies that there is a charge for v7. However when I clicked the link for the v7 MacOS off-line installer it just downloaded, with no further registration required.

When I ran the installer it said that it v7 doesn't support the G2 LaunchPad on Mac OS.

So then I decided to try v6 in case that supported the G2 LaunchPad. So I clicked the link for the v6 MacOS off-line installer, but this time I had to fill in registration forms with my company name, and address.

So my questions are:

- Are v7 and v6 free, or not?

- Do any versions of CCS support the G2 LaunchPad?

Yes they are "free" for customers of TI hardware (though the correct technical term is that the tools are available for "no additional cost" for use with TI hardware). But from a user point of view, it is free of charge

Only CCS on Windows. Mac and Linux versions do not support it

Both v7 and v6 are available free of charge. But the general license that each is covered under is a bit different. Hence one requires some additional registration.

    Thanks

  • Thank you - that explains it very clearly.
