Hello Everyone!

Getting this error all the time when trying to debug my code.

I did select the MSP430G2553 but it still tells me it cant find a MSP-FET430UIF (i never selected that):

Tried v5, v6 and v7 on WIn 10 with all drivers.

This is how it looks in my device manager.

Looks like on all other PCs aswell...

I tried USB2, USB3 and UART aswell without success. Hoping for some ideas here. Board is working on other PCs with Win 10 without issues so it must have to do with my installation i think (not sure).

Fabio,

The error message is the same for both the standalone MSP-FET430UIF and the one that is built onto the LaunchPad. Basically CCS can't communicate with the debug interface.

If you just have one board connected to the PC then you want "TI MSP430 USB1" as your connection. The screen captures didn't come through.

One thought is are you using a USB3.0 port or an external USB hub? If so try using a USB2.0 port directly on the PC and see if that helps.

Ok. The screen shots are visible now. The device manager looks fine. The error message from CCS looks a bit different from what I see. It talks about a COM port and lists MSP-FET430UIF vs just USB FET. I tried a CCSv5.5 and 7.1 and I always get the error message I posted if there is a communications error. I will have to ask one of our FET experts to comment. There must be a reason why the error message is different, that hopefully helps us figure out what is going on.

Hello,

What exactly is the target board and FET tool used? A MSP-EXP430G2 with on-board eZ430, TI-provided EVM with MSP-FET, or otherwise? As John mentioned earlier, has a USB 2.0 port been attempted? I suspect you are using a LaunchPad in which case the eZ430 FET tool has known issues with USB 3.0 ports and should be avoided if possible. If there are low-level USB driver issues due to the multiple instances of CCS downloaded then you can try getting the latest from the MSPDS tools page. Have you tried using a different program like FET-Pro430 to communicate with your device?

I'm using a MSP-EXP430G2 with on-board eZ430, have tried USB 2.0 port, still getting an error. I didn't understand the use of MSPDS, could you help? I will try FET-Pro430 and let you know.

The Low-Level USB Drivers provide an interface between the host system MSP Debug Stack library (Win: MSP430.dll / Linux: libmsp430.so) and the FET’s USB interface: software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html

The USB CDC drivers to use the back-channel UART on the LaunchPad or on the eZ430 Emulator can be downloaded and installed from this link: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../EZ430-UART.zip

Ok, I used FET-Pro430 and now I could upload my first code on the board. Thanks for the help, Ryan!
