CCS: IWR1443: no connection to J-Link

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443, SEGGER

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,
customer has a IWR1443 launchpad. He wants to connect it to the J-Link. He installed the Segger plug-in under CCS7. He gets following error message after trying to connect.

Regards, Holger

  • mmWave devices are not supported by Segger at this time. mmWave is very new so I am not aware of any plans to add this yet. Segger is pretty responsive to demand though. I will follow up with the mmWave and Segger teams. For now the customer will need to use an XDS probe. XDS110 would be the best low cost solution.

  • Hello John,
did you already get feedback? I wonder why it is not support yet. We support already the Cortex-R5 CPU in Hercules MCUs.

    Regards, Holger
  • Supporting one Cortex R5 device is not the same as supporting all Cortex R4/R5 based devices. The debug IP can be different (ICEPick...), there will be additional items on the scan chain, there may be special startup sequences...

Segger will validate that a device works properly before enabling it as a supported device.

Discussions are still ongoing. I am closing this thread. This is beyond what is appropriate for an external forum. I can add you to the email thread.
