  • Hello,

Are you using the MSP-FET or the MSP-FET430UIF? Can you share a screenshot of your error?

    Regards,

  • Sorry, I don't know how to check it is MSP-FET or MSP-FET430UIF.

Below is my screenshot for err and my board.

    1. when I insert USB, the COM port are all fine

    2. Then I use ccs to download, the error occur

    3. then I check the port, there is some errors. I tried other PC, it works OK, but in my PC, always have the "NO USB FET WAS FOUND" err.

  • Hello,

Thank you for the pictures and additional details. It looks like you're using the onboard emulator (which should work), not the MSP-FET. Are both PC's Windows 10 or is the other one running Windows 7? Could there be different software (other than TI-provided software) on the failing PC versus the passing PC? In the past, I've come across software (such as gaming mice drivers) that can cause issues with our tools.

    James

  • Hi James,

Both are Windows 10. I'm not sure the different software in the both PC(the failling PC versus the passing PC), but I'm sure there is no gaming mice drivers in both PC. One thing you should be notice, there is successful operation before in my PC, but once "No USB FET was found" happened, after that, always cannot wordk well, although I have reinstall the drivers or the CCS tool many times.

  • Hello Treacy,

Thank you for the additional details. Would you happen to be using a USB 3.0 port on the failing PC and a USB 2.0 port on the passing PC? On the failing PC, you could try disabling USB 3.0 to default back to USB 2.0.

    Regards,

    James

  • I use the same USB for both PC, It is USB 2.0.

  • Even though you're using USB 2.0 ports, do either of the PC's have USB 3.0 ports/support as well?

    Regards,

    James

  • Sorry, because I only have USB 2.0 port, I don't try USB3.0

  • Sure, no problem. The reason that I'm asking is because we've observed issues with some PC's that have USB 3.0 ports, even if the USB 2.0 ports are used. Typically, if USB 3.0 functionality is turned off in BIOS for all USB ports, the issue goes away.

Can you give me detailed instructions so that I can try to duplicate the issue on my side? For the programming portion, just use a simple code example. I have some MSP-EXP430FR5739 LaunchPads, and I'm running CCS v7.0.0, but my PC has USB 3.0 ports and is running Windows 7 not 10.

  • Hi Treacy,

I've talked to our Tools team, and this issue seems like it's related to different PC hardware (e.g. motherboard, chip set). Are you able to share information about the manufacturer and model for both the failing and passing PC's?

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    James

  • I was having the same issue with CCS v7.2 for MSP430G2553 Launchpad. I tried everything on the forums, but what worked was re-connecting the device to other port on my laptop after sometime.
