Best way to measure operation speed?

Hey TI forum

Simple question. Whats the best way of measuring the operation speed of different methods inside CCStudio (one place in code to another place in code). Been struckeling to get timers up and running, but havent CCS got a buildin function for this?

Hi John,

when your in a debug session click on Debug-->Target-->clock. This will give you a selction how the clock should be displayed. As far as I remember the numers shown were in multiples of instruction cycle time.

Hi John,

As aBUGSworstnightmare mentioned, the profile clock is a useful tool to counting cycle counts (and other events). There is also a CCS Profiler tool that can be used if your target supports it:

Dont have the "Debug -> Target -> Clock" in CCS 3.3, but the profiler way worked on my DM6437. These processors use huge amounts of cycles for simple operations like "if", "for", "while", "access"...
