Code Composer 4 Install for Dummies

02/08/2010 A Dummies Guide to Installing Code Composer Studio.

It has come to my attention that a number of people are having difficulty in installing CCSv4, and setting up the user license. I have installed it and produced a short guide of the installation process.

I hope this helps!

Open My Computer. Right click on the CD icon and click 'Explore'.
Next, double click on the 'Setup_CCS_4.0.1' option.
Click 'Next'.
Choose to accept the terms of the license agreement, and then select 'Next'.
Click 'Next'
Select the product configuration that suits your needs. For this demo, I chose 'Platinum Edition', which includes all features and support for all device families. Click 'Next'
Select the components which suit your needs. For this, I used the default settings. Click 'Next'
Click 'Next' again.
The installation will now begin.
The installation takes between 15 and 20 minutes to complete. Once this has stopped, click 'Finish'.
Next, find the white flyer, titled 'ACTIVATION ID# FOR TI SOFTWARE' inside the DVD Packaging.
Go to www.ti.com/activatesoftware
If you do not already have a my.TI login and password, sign up. If you do, login using my.TI username and password.
Enter your activation ID. This is titled 'TI Activation ID' and can be found at the bottom of the flyer. Click 'Continue'.
Continue to follow the on screen prompts.

Feel free to also check the sections Download, Installation and Running for the first time of the CCSv4 Getting Started Guide, which contains a thorough description of the inital steps of using CCS.

Great procedure, as long as everything goes smoothly, but what about when errors are incurred during the install, or the install hangs. Both of which have happened when I run the install :(

I am trying to install CCS 4 on my computer. The person who gave me the disk had previously tried to install it but had trouble. Now when I try to activate the license it gives me the message "No more activations". Is there any way to get this reset so I can activate the license?

Hi,

I tried to install CCS4 and i've had the following problem:

Installing Code Composer 4.1.0.02002 from Digital Spectrum CD (02/04/10) on a Win XP SP3 computer, the installation freezes when the XDS560 Emulator is installed. Note that this is enabled by default. If disabled the installation finishes correctly. After the first use (as suggested in the installation notes) the new updates are installed, during installation the computer freezes again installing the emulators. In both cases an hard reset is needed.

I don't really need XDS560 component but the fact i can't install updates can become annoyning with time.

Has anybody had the same problem?

Bill,

Sorry to be so late responding. For some reason it stopped telling me there were further posts on this thread. CCS should come with three installations per license, so I am not sure what happened here. Let us know which version you have and we can send you another license file to try out.

Can you be more specific about what is not working? What error are you seeing, and what point in the process is it breaking? Did you check the specifications on the wiki link posted above?
