CCS questions - Stellaris

Hello,

Please let me know if you can help me address the questions below related to CCS for Stellaris, or direct me to the correct team within TI for assistance.  Thank you!

A customer recently purchased six DK-LM3S9B96 kits. Each of the disk comes with CCS install disk.

Q.1 What is the process necessary to obtain the six code composer license?
Q.2 Once the license are purchased can this be installed on any six PC's?
Q.3 If some body leaves the company, can his license be transferred to another employee with in the company?
Q.4 What is the cost of each CCS license?

Thank you!

Todd

  • Todd,

In reading the description of the kit it seems to have onboard emulation

"Each board has an In-Circuit Debug Interface (ICDI) that provides hardware debugging functionality not only for the on-board Stellaris devices, but also for any Stellaris microcontroller-based target board"

Thus they can just install CCS from the DVD that came with the kits.  The installation should automatically install a license file that will work with that board (if it does not they can just click on the "Use free limited license" button on the licensing dialog that will open the first time they run CCS and it will take them through the process of creating a license.

When they move beyond that board and design their own they will need to buy a CCS MCU license.  Since they already have the DVD they could buy TMDSCCS-MCUN01D which is $445 per seat.  Licenses can be transfered to other users by contacting ccs_license_file_help@list.ti.com
