CCS/DSPBIOS: calculate CPU loads (peak loads in particular)

Hello Team,

I am working with a customer who is trying to calculate CPU peak loads using the C55x simulator. He is using DSP/BIOS 5.41 and CCS v5.1. SDOCM00056732 BIOS 5 RTA - CPU Load broken on 55x simulator.

Is there a fix to this bug ? Does the customer migrate to SYS/BIOS 6 by referring to the Migrating gudie for this purpose ( spraas7g) ?

Hi Kishen,
It looks like SDOCM00056732 was never fixed. C55 devices are not supported on SYS/BIOS.

Thank you for your response. I understand that the error was never fixed, but is there an alternative for calculating CPU peak loads using the C55x simulator using DSP/BIOS 5.41 and CCS v5.1 ? The customer was following this gudie : processors.wiki.ti.com/.../BIOS_5_CPU_Load but it is exclusive for only CCS 3 and 4 ?

Hi Kishen,
CCS 5 has support for DSP/BIOS RTA, so the guide should still be applicable. I'm guessing it was just not updated, since DSP/BIOS is a legacy product and no further development is being done there. The bug report doesn't give any information on the cause of the CPU load problem, only that "On the 55x simulator, the CPU load is correct for a little while, then the values become negative."
