CCS hangs with "Terminating Debug Session"

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3S6965, OMAP-L138

CCS hangs with "Terminating Debug Session" on "Removing breakpoints" after a hardware reset. There appears to be no way out of this hang. The "cancel" button is grayed out and CCS is locked (including the "red X" to terminate). Had to use the windows task manager to terminate. CCS V4.1.2.00027, Stellaris LM3S6965 board.

  • Hi Jon,

Can you try updating to the latest version of CCS (4.1.3) and see if the issue remains?

    Thanks

    ki

  • I had the same problem with 4.1.2 and have not seen it with the machine running 4.1.3.

  • Ki,

I updated to 4.1.3 and do not see the problem anymore. Thanks very much.

  • Ki,

I am running 4.1.3 and have this exact problem. Is there a fix?

  • Mike,

Is this the same target as Jon also (Stellaris)?

  • Ki,

No. I am using the Logic Experimenter (OMAP-L138) board.

  • I have the same problem on Windows 7 64Bit and Code Composer Studio  4.2.3.00004

If i debug a project with launchpad I can Pause, execute step by step, modify source code and re-upload it (compile , your source code has changed re-upload it to msp430?yes....)

But if I click the button Terminate All, or Any Terminate Button Code Composer studio hangs and do not respond to any command, I have to terminate it via windows Control Panel

    Step to reproduce error:

    1) Open CCS, with launchpad connected, open simple project (only turn on Leds on board then stuck in a while loop)

All Ok I can step, view watcheed variables, etc etc

    2) I click terminate All Button windows hangs

    3) I terminate it via windows control Panel.

  • I am currently working with an MSP430. CCS4 recently came up and told me there was an update available which I accepted. It upgraded my installation to 4.2.3. Now when I terminate a debug session the IDE hangs until I click the Window Exit wherein I get a dialog from Eclipse that the JVM terminated. So now once I start a debug session I can not exit. Also, if I do not explicitly reset the CPU the debugger can not connect to the CPU to reload an image if I rebuild. Another new feature of the upgrade is that the edit box in the combo control to set the address in the memory and disassembly views is less than 1 character wide and you can not see the address. This tools was working quite well until the upgrade and seems to have taken a giant step backword. Has anyone heard about another upgrade to correct these problems.
