ccs4 version 4.1.3.38 install fails

I'm trying to install CCS for the Msp430 and it always hangs the operating system and I have to reboot. I've tried deleting all files in the InstallJammer Registry, I've even deleted the InstallJammer Registry. None of these measures changes the outcome. Running windows XP with SP3. I'm attaching the install log.

  • Hi Doug,

I'm unable to reproduce your problem. Can you give me more details as to what you selected when installing?  Do you have any other versions of CCS installed already? Do you have any emulators plugged in?

    thanks

    Danish

  • HI Danish,

I don't have any other versions of CCS installed. On my latest run I deleted the C:/Program Files/Texas Instruments directory to remove all previous material. I have no emulators plugged in. I also empty the ccsv4 folder in the InstallJammer Registry. Normally I select the MSP430-only core tools, but I have tried the Microcontroller Core Edition too. On the select component screeen I use the default setting which leaves only the MSP430 parallel port FET emulator unchecked. Because the device manager always indicates after the installation attempt that there is something wrong with the emulator driver, I delete the faulty emulator driver from the device manager. The system becomes unresponsive after attempting to install the emulator. I let it sit for about 30 minutes just to make sure it isn't actually doing something. The window has the green progress bar completely across and says something like cleaning up the files. I'll include the latest log.

    Thanks for your help,

    Doug

  • Doug,

Could you please take a look at this post http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/p/62592/228366.aspx#228366?

There is a workaround there which should hopefully help you get CCS installed successfully. Please let us know if it helps resolve the issue.
