CCS4 and SEED-XDS560 Emulator Problems

Hi,

I am experiencing problems connecting to my target using an SEED-XDS560 JTAG Emulator.  I believe the problems to be CCS4 / SEED-XDS560 driver related and not target or hardware related.  I have CCS version 4.1.3.00034 installed (to the default location) on an XP machine (SP3).  I have installed the SEED-XDS560PLUS drivers as per instuctions and I had not problems with that.  I can see the SEED XDS560 JTAG Emulator device in my Device Manager.  I have created a target configuration for my target (a TMS320DM6467), accepting all default options.  Then I launch the target configuration (as a non-project debuggin session) and all still seems fine.  When I now try to connect to my target, I get the following error message:

Error connecting to the target:
Error 0x80002240/-466
Fatal Error during: Initialization, OCS, Control,

Getting the explanation of error -466 with dbgjtag results in:

-----[The explanation of the error number '-466']----------------------------

This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver.

The value is '-466' (0xfffffe2e).
The title is 'SC_ERR_FAMILY_ITEM_BAD'.

The explanation is:
In the configure file a family name=value has a bad name or value.

Any idea what may be causing this?  I have no idea what configure file it refers to.  I get the same error whether I am physically connected to my target or not, and whether the target is powered or not.  This, and the message explanation, sounds like a problem before the hardware itself is involved.

Niki

  • Hi Niki,

Are you trying to connect to a DM6467 EVM? Have you tried contacting SEED? They may be able to help you.

    ki

  • Hi Ki,

Yes, I have and they have been fairly helpful so far.  They believe that it is a problem with the emulator hardware, and have sent me a replacement, but I still get the same results - now with both emulators.  I have a borrowed SD XDS510 which works without fail so I am fairly sure it is not a target hardware problem.  I have a friend who also has a SEED XDS560 emulator and he does not see the same error message that I get - even with the same target hardware.  I have two installations of CCS4 ( one on a Win7 machine and one on a XP SP3 machine) and both give me the same error message.  So this is very strange.

Again, looking at the error message, it looks like some sort of configuration error.  Somebody must know enough about the inside workings of CCS4 to shed more light on what causes this particular message?

    Regards,

    Niki

  • I got same error!

    anyone can help us?

  • Hi,

Which emulator are you using and what is your target hardware?

I was eventually able to find a more-or-less working setup with the SEED XDS560PLUS emulator.  The one major problem was that the SEED drivers do not work under CCS version 4.1.3 or later.  I had to re-install 4.1.2.  I also had to force the JTAG clock speed to 1MHZ (anything faster did not work).  I never got it to work on the SEED XDS510 emulator.  My target platform is the TMS320DM6467.  A assume that the SEED XDS510 does work with other platforms (they have a video on their web-site showing it in action, so it must work).  SEED told me that they will eventually port their drivers to 4.1.3.. May it has been done - I have not checked recently.

    Regards,

    Niki

  • Hi,

    CCS v4.1.2.00027.

    TMS320DM6467.

    SEED XDS560PLUS emulator.

    Windows XP with sp3.

    CCS v3.3 can work.

  • Hello

Now the driver of SEED-XDS560PLUS could support CCS4.1.3 and above(inculding CCS4.2),  just choose "CCS4.1.3" when you install it. You can download the newest driver from SEEDdsp Website: http://www.seeddsp.com/eng/a3.php?id=3&hid=3
