CCS: How to get simulator for TMS320c66xx

Hi,

Earlier as part of CCS installation we used to get simulator version for DSPs. I recently started to work on TI DSPs after a long gap. I see now its eclipse based. And after installing CCS. I see there is no Simulator version for debugging and proof of concept or for profiling etc. I am working on Jacinto(DRA7x ) where I am working on DSP core part. I was searching in Google and TI website, I couldn't find any simulator.

So does any one knows how to get Simulator for TMS320C66xx(Fixed and floation point) DSPs of single or Multi core?

Using CCS V7, And I couldn't see simulator for any processor.
Is there something I am missing in the installation?

If you really want to use simulators, CCSv5.5 is the last version to come with them. But note that both simulators in general and also CCSv5 are no longer supported so if you run into any issues using either (or both), there is limited support we can provide.

Hi,

Simulator support was dropped with CCS v6 IIRC, that's to say the latest CCS with simulator was in 5.x. As your device is quite new and you might like to make use of recent s/w deliverables from TI you'll wish to use latest CCS, and that's means there will be no simulator.

Many people complain on that, with TI responding they making focus on cheap evaluation modules.

Thanks for your Quick reply.
I feel its ridiculous of these kind of decision by TI and situation caused to the Developers. I don't know I have to check with my employer, whether they know this situation before hand.

In the mean time, Do you guys know any alternate solution for the developer until the "THE CHEAP EVM" board is available?

Feel free to post your feedback on the forum for your device. The decision to stop supporting simulators was not a decision by the tools (CCS) team. The folks in the device forum can also guide you on your best options for which HW to get started with.
