CCS/TMS320F240: Blackhawk Debugger and TMS320F2407A

Part Number: TMS320F240
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello team,

one of my customer is going from CCS 3.3 to CCS 7.2 at the moment and he is asking if the Blackhawk Debugger is working with the old TMS320F2407? Is there a compatibility list?

Thank you and kind regards,

Felix

  • Hi Felix,
The last version to support F24x is CCSv3.3. Versions after that do not support F24x.

    Thanks

  • Ok,

    but can I use the CCSv3.3 with the Blackhawk USB510L unter Windows7 32 and/or 64 bit with the TMS320F2407A?

I can flash the device with the Blackhawk Flashburn utility.

    The BHCheck33.exe says:
    Found CStudio v3.3 SR12 with USCIF v35.34.0.2
Found Compatible Blackhawk v3.3 ST12 drivers installed.
Blackhawk drivers are up to date with CCStudio.

    The BHDetect 1.0.0.11 says:
    2.) Blackhawk USB510L JTAG Emulator (S/N:xxxxxx)
    Errors: 0 Warnings: 0

    The BHProb.2 says:
The JTAG xx Giben Data scan-test has succeeded.

I needed a reboot after driver installation to get a connection to the 2407.

    Thanks

The USB510L is supported for F2407 and CCSv3.3. However CCSv3.3 is not officially supported on Windows 7. The last version to officially support it is Windows XP (32-bit) and it is recommended to use that instead.

If you insist on trying with Windows 7, it may work. There are some suggestions in the below wiki article:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Using_CCS_with_Windows_Vista_and_7

But there are no guarantees. If you are using 64-bit windows, you must make sure there are CCSv3.3 64-bit drivers available for your emulator and install those

    Thanks

  • I got the order from out EDV administration to shut down the Windows XP VM.
So I have to use Windows 7.
At this moment I can connect to a F2407 on Windows 7 64 Bit. See my question about the breakpoint at ID 613598.
