CCS/CODECOMPOSER: Installing CCS on thin clients

Part Number: CODECOMPOSER

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello CCS pros!

I have a professor working at a university who has an IT department that is moving all desktop applications to thin clients. My question is have you seen this implemented before for CCS and if so what are the tricks to getting the USB drivers for development kits like the TI LaunchPad properly installed on these thin clients so the boards can be plugged in and flashed?

I can try to find out more details on their actual setup but just wanted to see if there is any general comments or pitfalls.

I also wonder if this applies for CCS Cloud. Will the TI Cloud Agent to interface with TI LaunchPad be able to work through a thin client?

Thanks for your prompt responses!

  • Mark,

The feasibility of this will be highly dependent on the thin client itself. If the OS of the thin client is Windows embedded or a stripped down version of Linux tailored for it, you quickly run into the fringe of untested/unsupported configuration.

That said, we have a procedure in the wiki page below that describes the deployment of CCS across multiple workstations in a somewhat centralized way. This is not exactly what is asked but it gives an idea on what is needed per workstation.

Similar scenario happens with the Cloud tools; the Opeating System must be minimally compatible with the cloud agent to properly communicate with hardware.

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael
