CCS: AM3354 Hardware Breakpoint

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3354

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

Can anybody provide info on how to setup AM3354 Hardware break-point in CCS 7.2?

I intend to use an external signal to stop the debugger (XDS560v2 STM) and be able to access hardware registers.

Please advise.

Thank you

  • Puneet,

You can setup hardware breakpoints on a source line by right clicking in the selection margin of the source file and selecting hardware breakpoint from the breakpoints context menu. However it sounds like you are looking for something more advanced. If you go to main menu and select View -> Breakpoints. This will open the breakpoints view. From here you can create hardware breakpoints and adjust their properties.

    Regards,
    John
  • Hi John,

Thank you for your prompt response

Essentially we want to bring in an external trigger (from an Oscilloscope) and feed it to EMU0 so that we can stop the debugger, is this setup valid with AM3354?

Note: We have both AM3354 EMU0 and EMU1 pulled up on the board but not connected to XDS560v2 debugger.

If I look at the Hardware Breakpoint properties, I don't see an option of setting up EMU0 as an external trigger shown in this link below:

    Looking forward to your response.

    Thanks,

  • Hi John,

Any updates to the customer's question above?

    Thanks,

  • Puneet, Chuchen,

Please apologize; John is out of the office.

I consulted with the development team and found out this option is not supported with the AM335x family of devices.

Taking the JTAG/CCS out of the scenario, do you see as an option to plug the oscilloscope trigger to the EXTINTn pin, plug an ISR to the NMI and at least trap the core inside this interrupt?

For details on the NMI, check:

    Hope this helps,
