CCS/CODECOMPOSER: Installing TI-RTOS for MSP432 SimpleLink inside of CCS

Part Number: CODECOMPOSER

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I just ran through a TI-RTOS project and thought I would share some feedback. I'm using MSP432 (MSP-EXP432P401R).

I installed a clean CCS and my initial thought to get the TI-RTOS installation was to go to CCS App Center. However it was nowhere to be found there. I'm curious why not as I'm probably not the first one to try there first.

Next I go to resource explorer and on the home page it does have the links to get TI-RTOS. Is this the only place inside of CCS to do the install? Now here is where I ran into more confusion because now it is SimpleLink MSP432. I went ahead and installed the SimpleLink version of TI-RTOS but found out that it doesn't contain the MSP432 support. There is a separate download for MSP32x, but it currently says "MSP430" it probably needs to say "MSP430 and SimpleLink MSP432"

Basically I just wish it was more explicit and that there were more spots where a user could download the TI-RTOS and other "apps" on the resource explorer home page.

  • Mark,

For MSP432 the software package to use is the SimpleLink MSP432 SDK, it includes TI-RTOS. We should remove TI-RTOS for MSP an TI-RTOS for SimpleLink from Apps Center.

In general we are moving towards software packages being available via Resource Explorer and tools via App Center. Some software packages are still available via Apps Center.

    Regards,
    John
