CCS/TMS320C6746: Connect to PRSC failed when connect to target using XDS100v3 in CCS v5.5

Part Number: TMS320C6746

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

My chip is C6746 EZWT. I try to connect to it using XDS100v3 emulator in CCS v5.5. it cames out an error:

Error connecting to the target:
Connect to PRSC failed

I switch to my C6748LCDK, then everything is ok. Can someone help me? thx u anyway.

  • Hi Jiawei,
The PRSC error can have many root causes, with the majority of cases related to the HW. Carefully check the connections with your C6746 target.

    Other common issues:
-the device is in secure mode and must be unlocked
-the on-board clock is not stable or configured correctly
    -reset line not working correctly
-pull-up resistors needed for the reset line

    Hope this helps

  • Thank u, Ki-Soo Lee. I'll check these thing right now
  • I find when i plug in the power cable first, jtag cable second, there is no error. but jtag first, power second. The error occur. Can someone figure it why?
  • For the former (power first and JTAG second), after you successfully connect, what happens if you shut down debugger, power cycle board (leaving JTAG connected), and then try to connect to target again?

On a different topic, you are using a pretty old (unsupported) version of CCS. Any reason why you cannot upgrade to the latest version? I'm not saying that it will resolve all the issues, but it is always recommended to upgrade to the latest when experiencing issues.

    Thanks
    ki
  • We have change the pull-up resistors, and the problem disappeared now. Thank u, Ki-Soo Lee.
