CCS/MSP-EXP430G2: Error initializing emulator: Could not find MSP-FET430UIF on specified COM port

Part Number: MSP-EXP430G2

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

OS:  Windows 10 Home
CCSv:  7.3.0.00019

I've been having this problem with my old Launchpad MSP-exp430g2 board where CCS would give me this error and only successfully program about 10% of the time.

After a lot of research and playing around with the software in Windows 10 without any success, I finally found an answer.  I had to shut off USB 3.0 support in the BIOS.  Ever since I disabled USB 3.0, the launchpad has been programming the MSP430G2231 for me successfully.

I'm assuming this won't work for everyone - others claim to have disabled certain Windows/Intel services and programs running in the background like DaemonTools and that solved their problem.

Best of luck, hope this helps someone!
