CCS/CCSTUDIO: CCS v7 Install Stuck at Dependencies

Part Number: CCSTUDIO

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

My customer is unable to install Code Composer Studio. It just hangs at the screen where it says it's checking for preinstall dependencies (see attached images).

Here are the details of what they've tried. Please let me know what you recommend -

I tried several scenarios and couldn't get the software to install. We even tried both 7.3.0 and 7.2.0. Each time it would just hang for us.

Both PCs I tried are 64-bit Windows 7 systems. This first attachment was in normal mode with nothing else running, including our Symantec:

I then tried running the installation under Safe Mode and was equally unsuccessful. We got a message dialog box stating either 1: Anti-virus was running (which it wasn't) and impeded the executable or 2: Download is corrupt. I don't know what the issue might be. I thought it was just your normal every day software install.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and have a good afternoon.

  • Jeffrey,

There is a chance you are running into the issue described at section 2.3 of the Troubleshooting page

    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Troubleshooting_CCSv7

Can you try that and see if it works for you?

The install logs can also be helpful to try determine exactly where the installer collapsed. Check section 9.1 of the aforementioned page to learn how to obtain them.

At last, since they tried to install multiple times, there is a chance they need to clear an existing install - check section 2.7 of the page above.

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael
  • Hi Rafael,

The Windows updates were up to date. We were able to work around this issue by disconnecting the PC from the internet, and using the offline installer.

    Thank you for your help,
    Jeff
  • Jeff,

Wow, that is quite interesting. Thank you for sharing.

Yesterday I installed CCSv7.3 on a Windows 7/64 with multiple updates and it took about 10 minutes at the same stage as above. I will check with some developers to see if they may have additional details and report back any findings.

    Regards,
    Rafael
