bin file

saki ss

hi,

can any1 plz tell me how is a .bin file created in ccs4??...i tried to change in the build settings by changing the extension .out to .bin....but here the bin file which is generated is of 981kb...i require the bin file to be used in lm flash programmer....as the lm has a flash of 255kb..it does not support the bin file i generated....

if any could..plz help out....

The .bin file is usually created as a post-build step in CCS4. You can take a look at any of the Stellarisware examples. Open the Project Build Properties->C/C++ Build->Build Steps tab, and take a look at the post build step command. You can incorporate a similar command into your own projects to generate the .bin file that can be used by the LM Flash programmer. my present post build step command is as below:

"${CG_TOOL_ROOT}/bin/hex${CG_TOOL_SUFFIX}.exe" -i "${BuildArtifactFileName}" -o "${BuildArtifactFileBaseName}.hex" -order MS -romwidth 16 which gives me .bin file of about 999kb......

The command you have shown is invoking the hex converter to convert the .out file to a hex file. What you are looking for is the following command which is present in all Stellarisware examples, including ser2enet example in rdk-s2e. Just import the example project in CCSv4 and take a look at the post build step.

I am looking in the debug folder and only see the .out file being generated.

Hi,

I am working on c6678 using CCS 5.3 version.

I follow up your post on how to convert out file to bin file using post command. I tried the same command on my side and generated bin image.

But i could not execute the binary image which i fetched by running post command.

Could you guide me where i m going wrong.
