CCS/TM4C1294NCPDT: XDS200 Debug probe and XDS200 Onboard Debug probe Difference

Part Number: TM4C1294NCPDT

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I am using XDS200 to flash code in my TI TM4C1294XL Evaluation board, There are two debug probe options available XDS200.

What is the difference between Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB debug probe and Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB onboard debug probe.

I can only able to use the onboard Debug probe option. Is there any additional circuitry needed to use Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB debug probe option for our actual board development for debugging?

I am getting below image issue when I use Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB debug probe option in Eval board.

Regards,

Manohar

  • Manohar,

In CCS prior to version 7 the free license could only be used with development boards that had onboard debug probes, or our entry level XDS100 debug probes. If you are selecting Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB debug probe you are indicating that you are using an external XDS200 which is not supported by the free license. Some development boards had an XDS200 built onto them, if you are using one of those and select Texas Instruments XDS2xx USB onboard debug probe it will work with the free license.

It would be best to just download CCSv7. There are no more license fees with CCSv7 so you don't have to worry about this.

    Regards,
    John
