CCS4 V4.2 Debug Session Initiation Causes OMAP-L138 Experimenter to Reset

When starting a debug session using CCS4 V4.2 the OMAP-L138 Experimenter board seems to be reset causing loss of connectivity from my serial connection to the C6748 DSP on the SOM (the connection to the C6748 DSP in the OMAP-L138 must be made through a serial port on the Experimenter board by interrupting the boot sequence and entering the U-boot portion of the firmware) . If I then unplug the XDS100 v1 USB emulator connector, then re-insert it, I can re-establish the serial port connectivity and enter the debug session. It appears as though CCS4 V4.2 is sending some sort of USB reset to the board when it first enters a debug session.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Hi Mike,

If your target configuration is using a start GEL file, there may be a call to reset the target in one of the GEL call back functions (like OnTargetConnect()). Any action in OnTargetConnect() would be automatically executed when you try connecting to the target. Many times a reset is executed there.

GEL file attached. I don't see such a reset. Do you? CAn you see anything that might cause a reset to happen?

There is an option under 'Tools->Debugger Options->Generic Debugger Options', about half-way down the page under 'Connection Options', where you can enable an option to always reset on connect. But the default option is disabled.

Just to confirm, you get the reset when you try to connect, right? Or do you get it when you just start the debug session?

The "Reset on connect" is disabled.

Yes, I can "Launch TI Debugger" without a reset, but when I attempt to "connect to target" the board gets reset.

All,

I have downgraded to CCS4 V4.1.3 and the reset does not happen. Bug.
